Bob Mauldin's latest album, 'Van Zandt County Line,' is the culmination of years of writing, performing, and perfecting a songwriting ability that caught the attention of Ah-Ha Music Group in early 2011. Bob's true stories of life, love, and Texas landscape are a perfect introduction to who he is. On 'Van Zandt County Line,' you'll hear about God, home, family, life on the road and some tributes to Bob's songwriting heroes. In fact, the debut single, 'Ride Me Down Easy,' features country music legend Billy Joe Shaver. 'Van Zandt County Line' tells us point blank where Bob Mauldin is as a songwriter, and more importantly as a person. Bob Mauldin was born and raised in East Texas and started making a career in radio while still in high school. Even before Bob made a name for himself in radio, he was writing songs. Music was just a sideline hobby for Bob until one of his early demos caught the ear of legendary DJ, Tom Perryman. Tom started playing Bob's song, 'Baby,' on his radio show. Then requests came in. Then invitations to perform. Bob quickly put together his band and started playing shows when the bookings came in. Bob continued to record and play with the band, releasing two albums that were available at shows and at his website. In 2008, Bob released the single 'Redneck Rebel' due to the response it received at his shows. The song was played on Texas Country stations all over the state. The song was intended to be a part of a planned album featuring the band. A marathon session took place in June, 2008 to lay down tracks for the new album, but life happened, and the album was never completed. In early 2011, Bob struck a deal with Ah-Ha Music Group to record a new 12-song album for the label. The 2008 recordings served as a blueprint for the new album. 'Van Zandt County Line' is a culmination of years of writing, performing, and perfecting his songwriting craft. The debut single, 'Ride Me Down Easy' is a duet with Bob's songwriting hero, Billy Joe Shaver. Now, music occupies much more of Bob's time. Bob's songs are stories of raw truth that seem to have matured with their composer. Bob can be found on stages of clubs, dancehalls and festivals all over Texas on any given weekend.
