All-star jams can go two ways. They either turn out a muddled mess, or inspire everyone involved to new heights of musical synergy. Fortunately for blues, R&B, and soul fans, Triple Trouble belongs firmly in the latter category. It helps that Castro, Jones (guitar), and Hall (sax, harmonica) have different strengths, which complement one another nicely. It also helps having the renowned Double Trouble on board; one couldnt ask for a tighter, tastier backup band. Together, this group ranges all over the musical map, from traditionally-inflected blues ("Raised in the Country") to James Brown-style funk ("Cold Funk"). With Telarc Records clean, crisp production every note comes out clear, showcasing these three artists to their best advantage. They might not be superstars, but theyve got their mojo workin. --Genevieve Williams

Triple Trouble - Tommy Castro, Jimmy Hall, Lloyd Jones / Telarc Audio CD 2003 / CD-83585 UPC 089408358524 /// Tommy Castro (born April 15, 1955, San Jose, California, United States) is an American blues, R&B, and rock guitarist and singer. He has been recording since the mid-1990s. His music has taken him from local stages to national and international touring. His popularity was marked by his winning the 2008 Blues Music Award for Entertainer of the Year. According to The Chicago Sun-Times, Castro plays "Memphis soul-drenched R&B…top-of-the-line blues." Tom Callahan of Blurt added, "Castro has a soulful voice, searing guitar and is an excellent songwriter and vocalist. If you close your eyes you will be convinced that you are listening to Otis Redding singing in 1967…tremendous." Jimmy Hall (born April 26, 1949) is the American lead singer and harmonica player for the Southern rock group, Wet Willie. Hall was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and reared in Mobile, Alabama. He first gained notoriety in 1970 as the lead vocalist, saxophonist and harmonica player for Wet Willie. The band’s R&B-infused rock and roll style propelled its biggest hit, “Keep On Smilin’,” into the Top 10 on the Billboard singles chart in 1974. Wet Willie released five albums with Capricorn Records before moving to the Epic label in 1977, where its singles “Street Corner Serenade” and “Weekend” charted in the Top 40. In 1980, Hall scored a solo hit with the single "I'm Happy that Love Has Found You" (US No. 27, AC #30). In May 1982, Hall peaked at No. 77 with the song "Fool for Your Love." In 1985, he sang lead vocals on Jeff Beck's album Flash and was nominated for a Grammy Award for the performance. Hall has also toured with Hank Williams Jr., playing saxophone and harmonica. /// Label: Telarc – CD-83585 Format: CD, Album Country: Europe Released: 2003 Genre: Blues Style: /// Tracklist: 1 Sometimes Written-By – Lloyd Jones 2:15 2 If That Ain't Love Written-By – Jimmy Hall, Keith Stegall, Marvin Morrow 4:36 3 Be Careful With A Fool Written-By – Joe Josea, Riley B.
