Introduction by Thomas Caldecot Chubb, illustrated by Federico Castellon. This beautifully bound book was hand-selected from individually tanned hides. Textured and shaded, acid-neutral paper won't turn yellow over time. Pages are Smyth-sewn into binding for permanence (not glued like ordinary books). Edges gilded on three sides to enhance elegance of the book. Endpapers: Satin moiré. Satin ribbon page marker bound in. Two different states/edition were published by Easton Press in 1976. This is the preferred edition: Extra/extensive gilt lettering applied to binding and a full color frontispiece of Sir Walter Scott (less desirable edition has black and white frontispiece).
