About the Artist

Celtic and Jazz fiddler Jeremy Kittel is rapidly earning a reputation as one of the nations top young traditional musicians. The 2000 US National Scottish Fiddle Champion and Junior National Scottish Champion of 1998 and 1999, Jeremy also qualified for the All-Ireland four consecutive years. In 2003 he won the Alfred Improvisation Award, Mark OConnor Award of Merit and International Association for Jazz Education Award for Best Jazz Performance at the American String Teacher Association/National Band and Orchestra Association Alternative Styles Competition. In the past year Jeremy has been awarded the Daniel Pearl Memorial Violin, performed with the Turtle Island String Quartet, won the 2004 Detroit Music Award for Outstanding Acoustic/Folk Instrumentalist, and graduated from the University of Michigan, earning their highest musical honor, the Stanley Medal. He turned 20 this spring.
Jeremy has performed at hundreds of concerts and festivals over the past five years including the Millennium Stage of the Kennedy Center, "A Prairie Home Companion," Ann Arbor Folk Festival, Chicago Celtic Fest, Bethlehem Musikfest, New World Festival & Milwaukee Irish Fest. In 2000 Celtic Connections called his first CD, Celtic Fiddle, "the best by a new young artist."
