Ain't that the way? MCA unceremoniously drops one of country music's legendary figures and then turns around and puts out a 12-song synopsis of his MCA tenure. Culled from his seven not-as-bad-as-you-might-think 1990s releases, this singles-heavy compilation wavers in terms of material quality and production values, but Possum's still Possum and his unique vocal abilities haven't yet abandoned him. When he gently caresses "You Couldn't Get the Picture," growls through "I Don't Need Your Rocking Chair," and sympathetically and sensitively renders Bobby Braddock's poignant "Wild Irish Rose," Jones's pained voice still has the power to move.
