The bonus features on the unrated extended cut DVD of Coyote Ugly are just like the movie itself: innocuous and entertaining. Guys will be happy to know that Piper Perabo's nude love scene has been included, and girls will enjoy the commentary track, cut together from two separate tracks on the previous DVD release, and focusing primarily on a lot of lightweight anecdotes by Perabo and her "Coyote" bar-girl costars; it just may be the most air-headed DVD commentary ever recorded (along with occasional comments by director David McNally and producer Jerry Bruckheimer), but it's obvious that these young women bonded well and thoroughly enjoyed making the movie. The other features are mostly culled from the movie itself: In "Coyote 101" the Coyotes recall their training (spinning bottles, learning dance moves, etc.); "Action Overload" a perfunctory compilation of the movie's hottest Coyote moments; "Inside the Songs" pays cursory tribute to songwriter Dianne Warren; "Search for the Stars" chronicles the arduous process of casting the Coyotes from among 4,000 hopefuls; and LeAnne Rimes (who provided Perabo's singing voice for the film) appears in a music video for "Can't Fight the Moonlight," one of several fine songs that Warren wrote for the film's bestselling soundtrack. The deleted scenes aren't bad; at least one of them should've been added back to the film, especially a scene where Bello's character tells the backstory of how and why she opened the "Coyote Ugly" bar to realize her own big-city dreams. --Jeff Shannon
