Jean Redpath was internationally known as a singer and lecturer of traditional Scottish ballads and was considered the foremost authority of the songs of Robert Burns. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland and performed the songs of her native land for over thirty years. Redpath also appeared on such radio programs as Morning Pro Musica on Boston's WGBH public radio station. Between 1974 and 1987 Redpath was also a regular on Garrison Keillor's Prairie Home Companion radio show.
